About mainly music
mainly music started nearly twenty years ago when couple of mums at a church in New Zealand wanted to start a group that would introduce children to music, dance, beat, rhythm and more, as well as provide a base for families to think about the God-part of life. mainly music groups now run all over the world. Each mainly music is associated with and is a program run by volunteers from a local church.

At mainly music
Young children and their caregivers enjoy music, rhyme, rhythm, creative dance and more
Preschool children develop skills – co-ordination, fine motor movements, large motor movements, social interaction, appreciation of music and musical styles, language development
Children are provided with a structured environment and then a time of free play
Adults and children are brought together for a time of safe interaction where they learn rhymes and songs that can be used at home to help with cleaning up, colours, counting, thinking about God and more
Parents and caregivers have an opportunity to network with other carers of preschool children
We celebrate
In short, mainly music is an opportunity for adults and children to share a special time with each other and build lasting, positive memories.

A quick overview
Each week, parents and caregivers bring their children for a thirty minute session of music, rhyme, movement, listening and more. Adults and children participate together in the session because this nurtures healthy loving relationships encourages the children.
After the session, adults and children are given afternoon tea. This allows time for children to enjoy each others company, and to develop social skills. It also frees the adults to chat to each other, build friendships, provide mutual encouragement and learn from one another.
